The evidence for the existence of dark matter is very strong. It seems most of the matter in the universe interacts very weakly with ordinary matter making it invisible other than its gravitational effects. One of the leading candidates is the axion, a result of the solution of the Strong-CP problem, i.e., why the electric dipole moment (EDM) of the neutron is much smaller than its theoretical prediction. Recent advancements in cryogenics technology, high field magnets, and detector technology may allow us to definitely answer whether axions constitute a significant fraction of the local dark matter. The role of the Center for Axion and Precision Physics research (CAPP) of the institute for basic science (IBS) in Korea, with significant experiments in Korea and around the world, will be described.
